Welcome to Charles Darwin Sixth Form

Welcome to our vibrant and supportive Sixth Form at Charles Darwin School, where academic excellence, personal growth, and student wellbeing are at the heart of everything we do. We take pride in offering a diverse range of A Level and BTEC courses, allowing you to tailor your education to your strengths and future aspirations. Whether your next steps involve university, apprenticeships, or employment, we are dedicated to guiding and supporting you every step of the way.

A Supportive and Inclusive Environment

At our Sixth Form, we understand that success is about more than just grades. Wellbeing and character development are central to our approach, ensuring that all students feel valued, supported, and motivated. Our dedicated pastoral team, along with form tutors, are always on hand to offer advice, whether it's academic guidance, mental health support, or career planning.

Our Sixth Form community is built on mutual respect and collaboration, with Year 12 and Year 13 students sharing common spaces and working together. This inclusive atmosphere encourages teamwork, leadership, and the formation of lasting friendships.

Academic Excellence and Beyond

With a broad curriculum spanning both A Level and BTEC qualifications, we cater to a wide range of interests and career ambitions. Our expert teachers provide engaging and challenging lessons designed to inspire independent thinking and a passion for learning. Class sizes in sixth form are smaller, allowing for increased support. Teachers know their students well and positive relationships are fostered quickly.

Beyond the classroom, students have access to enrichment opportunities, work experience placements, and mentoring to prepare them for the future.

Early in Year 12, students begin planning for their futures beyond Charles Darwin. The UCAS process, for admission into UK universities, is explained and students are supported making their applications through this route. Additional tutorials and guidance are available for apprenticeships and CV preparation for employment- ensuring all students are catered for as they leave at the end of Year 13.

Balancing Work and Wellbeing

While academic achievement is important, we also believe in creating moments for fun. Throughout the year, students take part in social events, team-building activities, and leadership opportunities that enhance their personal development. From charity fundraisers to sports competitions, we encourage students to get involved and make the most of their Sixth Form experience.

Our Sixth Form is more than just a place of study - it’s a community that fosters ambition, resilience and friendships that last a lifetime. Whether you are striving for university, an apprenticeship, or direct employment, we are here to support you in achieving your goals.
