2023-2024 Jack Petchey Winners

September   2023      Year 10    Winner:   Max Parish
Reason:

Max has received this award for being an incredibly hard working and dedicated member of Year 10.  He has collected an impressive amount of achievements, having won an award from his form tutor and previously being nominated for the Jack Petchey award in Year 7 and Year 8!

Max is a motivated member of the school football team who excels in every training session and match. Last year, he achieved a Platinum award for effort within his lessons which demonstrates his continued commitment and hard work that he puts into all areas of his school life.  Well done Max!

October  2023      Year 11    Winner:   Taliyah-Rae Dwyer-Waite
Reason:

Taliyah is a mature, polite and hardworking students.  She represents her form by being the Student Voice representative, as well as her year group by being a Prefect.  She puts 100% effort into everything she does and is always around to help those around her.  She attends extra-curricular clubs and is making the most of after-school revision sessions.  Taliyah never gives up and is a great role model to younger students.  Her determination and dedication to working hard is also paying off outside of school where she is making great progress to achieve her long term goal of working in Photography.

October  2023      Year 11    Winner:   Harry Burch
Reason:

Harry received this award in recognition of him being a consummate intellectual which is represented in his subject choices of Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics, where he has worked incredibly hard both in terms of achievement and his understanding of the subjects.  

Any challenges Harry may face, he does so with a joke and a smile, in his quiet and unassuming manner thus being able to completely invert the problem which also enhances the attainment of others around him.  Harry is a wonderful student who is deserving of this nomination.

November  2023      Year 8    Winner:   Owen Asemota
Reason:

Owen was nominated for his outstanding contribution to Black History Month by preparing and delivering an assembly to all of Year 8, showing fantastic leadership and commitment to raising awareness of Black History Month.  Owen’s fellow peers have found his assembly both valuable and inspiring.

January  2024      Year 9    Winner:   David Vizitiu
Reason:

David is an asset to Charles Darwin School and always works hard to achieve his potential.  The qualities of kindness and helpfulness come easily to David and his diligent approach to school life in general makes him such a deserving winner of this Jack Petchey award.  A true shining star of his year group – please don’t ever change David!

February  2024      Year 7     Winner:   Pallika Ramnath
Reason:

Pallika is an absolute credit to Year 7.  She contributes fully to the year group in her contribution to extra-curricular sport reading challenges and Rising Stars club.  Her achievement reward points are one of the highest in the year.  An amazing young lady who will go far!

February  2024      Year 12     Winner:   Sophia Kenward
Reason:

Always with a smile on her face, Sophia remains conscientious, enthusiastic and motivated in her A Levels.  An outstanding sportswoman both in and out of school, who deserves real credit for how she manages her time.  A real star!

March  2024      Year 12     Winner:   Chloe McGonigal
Reason:

Exciting, adventurous and mature – just some of the words used by Chloe’s teachers when describing her work.  Her focus on high standards and achieving excellent outcomes has meant she is a real pleasure to teach this year.

March  2024      Year 11     Winner:   Tillie Bansel
Reason:

Tillie is described as a real asset to Charles Darwin School.  An exemplary student who goes above and beyond, meets every deadline given and, as a result, has made fantastic progress during her time with us.  The sky is the limit for Tillie!

April  2024      Year 10     Winner:   Maci Hughts
Reason:

Maci has continued to be an exemplary student at Charles Darwin School.  Not only should her hard work and efforts be commended within the classroom and on the netball court, but also her contributions to the Jack Petchey Speak Out Challenge.  Her delivery of a very personal moving speech on ‘Emergency Services’ was recognised in awe by staff and students alike.
