Karate success

Congratulations to Jamie Parker in 9GCu who attended the British Open Karate Championships earlier this month. The Championships feature all styles of karate and competitors from across Great Britain took part.
Jamie narrowly missed getting into the finals and won the bronze medal for kumite (fighting). She fought amazingly well and is now ranked third in Great Britain for girls aged 12-13 years old. Jamie then went on to fight in the team event and the team won silver.
“Jamie started training with me at the age of 7,” explained her karate teacher, Sensei Mikki Gardner. “She is a very dedicated student who trains consistently hard and helps with teaching younger students. She also achieved her black belt over the summer holidays after years of hard work. I am immensely proud.”
