Year 7: Recognising achievement, rewarding attendance
Children need to be in school to realise their full potential so, as well as encouraging and recognising hard work, we also invest time and effort in promoting and rewarding individual attendance.
Whilst we appreciate that the odd day of illness can be unavoidable, we count each term as a fresh start and we rely on parents to ensure pupils attend school if they are just feeling a little under the weather.
We run a reward trip to recognise those Year 7 pupils with exemplary [usually 100%] attendance each term:
· Those with exemplary attendance in the Autumn term are offered the opportunity to join an ice skating trip to Somerset House in January;
· Those with exemplary attendance in the Spring term are offered the opportunity to take part in a bowling trip in April.
Year 7 pupils can also join a residential enrichment trip to PGL Liddington, near Swindon, scheduled to take place during July 2017.
This incorporates many adventurous activities which develop skills such as team work and communication. Details of this trip will be sent out shortly, together with the cost, as we appreciate that families need to be able to plan ahead.
We also recognise students who come to school prepared for lessons and focussed on learning.
