Charles Darwin School

Year 12 Horizons

At the end of the Summer Term the Year 12 students took part in a variety of activities as part of the Horizons event here at the school.

The students had the opportunity to explore and develop wider skills essential in the world beyond school.
They also experienced a Next Steps Day where they spent time in a carousel of activities which included talks from various universities who explained why going to university is a wise choice and were on hand to answer the students' questions.  They also spent time creating CVs, writing personal statements, calculating student finance and honing interview skills.

Two days of Horizons were spent working in less familiar small teams on fun problem-solving activities which attracted points and prizes. Life skills such as ironing and sewing on a button were also included!

Their final day of Horizons was an alternative sports day where tutor group teams worked together on activities such as mini golf, skipping, hula-hooping and cheerleading to win the top spot. This year was particularly good fun with the addition of an inflatable assault course followed by a welcome and well deserved visit from the ice cream van on what turned out to be a very warm day!
